I have spent these two days with James to install OSCAR cluster for CMS (Cluster Management System) testing. It just finished today. We had failed to install it yesterday because we had tried to install version 5 on CentOS 4. And it had taken a long time to install CentOS 5 over the stupid network. Now it is working though. The next problem is ... where should these machines sit?
Today I went to the office of registrar 3 times. Just to get the B.O.S.S account and register for the classes online. Anyway I still have a problem with the tuition. I will go to see someone there again tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Day 123...New Experience and New Thai Student
Today I had an appointment with James to install OSCAR. First, we had to install CentOS. James tried to install it via NFS but it failed. Then he tried to install via HTTP. It also failed. He tried to install with the only first CD (CentOS needs 4 CDs for installing with CD) and unchecked all packages, which means he tried to install only the OS. It also failed because it required the second and third CDs. Finally we needed to download and burn the CDs and try again tomorrow. :(
Today so, I heard from P Ja that there is a new Thai student in the ELS center. She is a girl. P Ja have not seen her but she knew from her friends. By the way, we will take her to Dr. Box's office.
Now I have to go review papers that I have just got from Dr. Box today and I have to return it on Thursday. These papers are about Mobile Ad-hoc Networks.
Today so, I heard from P Ja that there is a new Thai student in the ELS center. She is a girl. P Ja have not seen her but she knew from her friends. By the way, we will take her to Dr. Box's office.
Now I have to go review papers that I have just got from Dr. Box today and I have to return it on Thursday. These papers are about Mobile Ad-hoc Networks.

Day 120...Onions and Baby Carots
ตั้งแต่มาอยู่ที่นี่ ก็ต้องทำกับข้าวกินเอง และส่วนประกอบหลักของกับข้าวก็คือ...หัวหอมกับแครอท!
มันช่างเป็นสารอาหารที่หาได้ง่าย ทำอาหารได้หลายอย่าง และเก็บได้นาน (บอกก่อนว่า หัวหอมในที่นี้มีขนาดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลางประมาณสามนิ้ว ส่วนแครอทเป็น เบบี้แครอทขนาดโดยเฉลี่ยประมาณหัวแม่มือ)
อะไรๆ ก็ใส่หัวหอม หรือไม่ก็แครอท หรือไม่ก็ทั้งสองอย่าง เมื่อกลางวันทำสปาเกตตี้ก็ใส่หัวหอมกับแครอท ตอนเย็นจะหาอะไรจิ้มกะปิ นึกอะไรไม่ออกก็เอาแครอทชุบแป้งทอด วันก่อนโน้นทำข้าวผัด ก็ใส่หัวหอม แครอท ดีหน่อยที่มีข้าวโพดแช่แข็ง กับถั่วแช่แข็งด้วย จะทำแกงกะหรี่น่องไก่ (เครื่องแกงญี่ปุ่น) ก็โยนหัวหอมกับแครอทลงไป แกงเขียวหวานยังใส่แครอทแทนมะเขือเลย
กลับไปเมืองไทยคงได้เห็นเราแปลงร่างเป็นกระต่ายล่ะ
ส่วนตอนเช้า ถ้าขี้เกียจก็กิน cereal กับนม ขยันหน่อย ก็กินขนมปังทาเนย...แต่วันพรุ่งนี้จะทำแพนเค้กอีกรอบแหละ แป้งยังเหลือ

ขุนศึกตระกูลหยาง
คนที่ upload บอกว่ามันคือ ขุนศีกตระกูลหยางฉบับ SAGA นั่นหมายความว่า มันโม้ และเนื่องจากคน upload เขาเรียงค่อนข้างมั่ว เราก็เลยเอามาเรียงใหม่
มันเป็นหนังที่รวมดารา TVB ในสมัยนั้น ดังนั้นจึงเป็นเรื่องสั้นๆ (4 แผ่น VCD) มีทั้ง หลิวเต๋อหัว เหลียงเฉาเหว่ย หวงเย่อหัว เหมียวเฉียวเหว่ย โจวเหวินฟะ
ดาราสาวๆ น่ารักๆ ก็เพียบ แต่ไม่รู้จักชื่อซักคน เชิญทัศนาเองละกัน

Day 113...ของที่อยากกิน
อยู่มาได้เกือบ 4 เดือนละ เริ่มคิดถึงอาหารบ้านเรา
จริงๆ อาหารไทยบางอย่างก็พอหาเครื่องปรุงมาทำได้อยู่ แต่บางอย่างก็หาไม่ได้ อาหารอีสานยังทำกินเองได้ ส่วนอาหารจีนก็มีหลายร้านอยู่ อาหารญี่ปุ่นนี่สิ ไม่มีเลย
- อย่างแรก ก๋วยเตี๋ยวลุยสวน อยากกินมาเป็นเดือนละ แต่มันทำยาก ผักหลายชนิดที่นี่ไม่มี โดยเฉพาะพวกโหรพาหรือสะระแหน เป็นของแพงไปเลย อีกอย่าง น้ำจิ้มก็ไม่ใช่จะทำง่ายๆ นะ
- เป็ดย่าง หรือ ข้าวหน้าเป็ด เราไม่เคยเห็นเป็ดที่นี่เลย มันเป็นสัตว์หายากรึเปล่าก็ไม่รู้ ตามร้านอาหารจีนก็ไม่มี
- ซาซิมิแซลมอน น้องม่อนน่ะหาง่าย แต่ไอ้ที่สดพอมาทำซาซิมิได้นี่ต้องขับรถไปไกล (ไม่มีรถซะด้วย) อาหารที่นี่ อะไรก็แช่แข็งไปหมด
- ไก่ไหว้เจ้า หรือ ข้าวมันไก่ เคยช่วยพี่จ๋าทำข้าวมันไก่ แต่รู้สึกว่าไก่ต้มออกมาแล้วไม่เหมือนที่เคยกิน ยิ่งดูหนังจีน เห็นมันกินไก่ไหว้เจ้ากันเป็นตัวๆ แล้วอยากกินมั่ง
ถ้าปีหน้ากลับไปเมืองไทยแล้วมีคนชวนกินของพวกนี้จะดีใจมาก แต่ถ้าชวนไปกินสเต็ก McDonald, Subway หรือ Burger King ละก็ จะโกรธด้วย

Day 103...Open Source on Mac
I have nothing to write about these days. Everything is the same except I've got a new MacBook and I'm trying to get used to it. Since I've used FreeBSD before, I prefer open source. This is the list of software that I'm using.
Firefox - This is a good and fast web browser with the smart location bar. You can type just a part of the addresses that you've visited and it will search for you.
Adium - or Pidgin (Gaim) on other platforms. It is a very good instant messaging application. It can support many services, like MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, etc., with good-looking interface.
Skype - I use the video call feature to communicate with my family and my friends in Thailand.
VLC - It's a cool media player because it can support various audio and video formats, DVD, and streaming.
Texmaker - This LaTeX editor has been recommended by Gapy. I've never used it but I've installed it already. :)
MacTex - LaTeX for Mac. Again, it has been recommended by Gapy.
iStat Pro - A widget for monitoring you system on MacBook, recommended by Aig. I've just installed it.
VirtualBox - A virtual machine, also recommended by Aig.
MS Word to Latex, Latex to Word, MathType to Equation Converter - It makes my life easier.

Day 97...GRE, Monroe and Shreveport
Aig and Mon took me to Monroe to take GRE today. I've got the same scores as the last time. By the time we reached there, we had Chinese lunch around 11 A.M.
After GRE test, I went shopping with Aig and Mon because they wanted to buy some gifts for someone in Thailand. They took me to Shreveport, found some gifts at Barns & Nobel, Target. Then we had dinner at Vietnamese restaurant. The Vietnamese noodle soup was so great.
